Watch Face Visual Explorations

2024

Visual explorations based on HQ brief

Brief was to get inspired from traditional analogue watch, understand what makes them an art-deco, apart from the physical craftsmanship (obviously). For personalized photo watch faces, goal was to create visually dynamic & expressive photo gallery that also informs time.

Pop Analogue

Current smartwatch watch faces largely deliver static or purely informational experiences, leaving a gap in emotional and sensory engagement for users accustomed to responsive, interactive digital interfaces. Challenge was to address the current issues and create a watch face that works within technical limitations.

Pop Demure

Reductive approach while focusing on form of the base and needles with iconic character.

Simple Photo

Nearly half of Galaxy Watch users prefer photo-based watch faces. Yet today, these faces remain static images underlaid with time. This exploration reimagines the Photo Watch Face as a personal, contextual & emotionally attuned expressions.

Major consideration was to understand how I could create a photo watch face that celebrates the radial screen and cleanly compose a portrait with time and other complications while re-assuring a brand identity.

Fish Eye

Started with a simple question of how can we create a strong brand association with a unique visual treatment that compliments the medium and its purpose. The specific direction was shortlisted to cater towards younger users.
